Blocking Feedback

You may have the ability to permanently block feedback from being published. By blocking an occasional negative feedback rating you receive, you can prevent that rating from having an adverse affect on your overall feedback score or on your reputation.

How do I block feedback?

Once feedback is blocked it cannot be unblocked. Whether you can block feedback depends on your blocking power.

To block feedback,

On the top navigation bar, click "Payments," and click "Manage Feedback."
Find the appropriate record and click "View Feedback Received."
Click the "Block Feedback" button in the lower right corner of the feedback record.

What is my Blocking Power and how is it calculated?

The number of feedback records you can block depends on the dollar amount of the associated invoices and your current blocking power. Blocking Power may be "spent" on any combination of feedback records as long as the value of the associated invoices does not exceed your Blocking Power.

Find your Blocking Power displayed at the bottom of the left-hand column.

Notes: The "$ Cumulative Expenditures" figure is how much money you have spent on Guru.com within the last 12 months. The "$ Amount blocked" is the dollar value of the feedback you have blocked within the last 12 months. Your cumulative expenditures are recalculated every 24 hours. Blocking Power, however, is calculated in real time to account for new feedback blocks imposed.

Blocking Power = ($ Cumulative Expenditures X 10%) – Sum[$ Amount blocked]

Example:

Blocking Power = ($10,000 X 10%) – Sum[$200 + $300]

Blocking Power = ($1,000) – [$500]

Blocking Power = $500

The "$ Cumulative Expenditures" figure is how much money you have spent on Guru.com within the last 12 months.
The "$ Amount blocked" is the dollar value of the feedback you have blocked within the last 12 months.

Why do you allow users to block feedback?

While negative feedback can be unpleasant, even detrimental to a reputation, Guru.com maintains the policy of not censoring feedback or investigating it for accuracy. The option of blocking occasional unfair or unwarranted negative feedback allows Employers and Freelancers to maintain a positive reputation and continue to prosper on Guru.com. Employers and Freelancers that regularly receive negative feedback will run out of blocking power and the negative pattern will emerge.
