Guru.com Among Finalists in Annual Pittsburgh Technology Council's Tech 50 Awards
Company Maintains Leadership in Regional Service Provider Industry
Pittsburgh, PA - October 17, 2008 - Guru.com (www.guru.com), the world's largest online marketplace for freelance talent, was named a Finalist in the Pittsburgh Technology Council (PTC) 's recent Tech 50 Awards. For the sixth consecutive year, the company ranks among the Top Ten Service Providers in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
The annual Tech 50 competition has recognized progress and excellence in technology companies based throughout the region since 1997. Each year 10 companies are acknowledged within set business growth or industry categories, including: High Rise; Rising Star; Advanced Manufacturing; Biomedical; Green Technology; Information Technology; and Service Provider.
Guru.com has maintained its "Top Ten Service Provider" status every year since 2003. The company was awarded the Industry Leader recognition for the category in 2003 and 2004.
"Each year Tech 50 challenges local businesses to better themselves--locally, nationally, and globally," said Inder Guglani, CEO and Founder for Guru.com. "The competition provides ongoing incentive and inspiration for Guru.com; we have been very fortunate to remain among the Region's best in our sector."
In June, Guglani was himself named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Winner in Business Services.
The Pittsburgh Technology Council's Tech 50 Awards are judged by an independent panel composed of PTC representatives, member organizations and sponsors. Scoring is based on revenue growth, job growth, employee retention figures and other factors. Competitors this year were asked to respond to an essay on "What differentiates your company from others in the industry?"
All Industry Leaders and Finalists were announced at the Tech 50 event ceremonies held on October 16 at the Carnegie Music Hall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
