My work samples need to be kept confidential.

I work at a research institute. Most of my work samples are of confidential information. I can not show these things to anyone outside of my organization. However, these are my work samples. I do not have any other than these. Can someone give me some advice? I really want to be able to obtain job offers but I can't show my work samples.

Hi Londya,

Having read about your situation, I know how you feel. I am in the same boat and have samples I can't use due to agreements I signed years ago. But I did work around that, and I do have samples available.
Since a new client might look at your confidential samples and wonder how you will treat their confidential documents, you need to use materials that are not from your past employment. It's fine to do that. You're showcasing your skills, not the work your former employer requested of you.

So, I would suggest that you do as I did, and find some nice video online, or have someone you know record some miscellaneous dictation, and transcribe that. If they happen to have an accent, then it's even better! You can upload the completed works to your sample section without worry. You will have shown how great your work can be, and also avoided any potential backlash on the issue of confidential materials.
