Project awarded?

I had submitted a proposal for a job, i got a call from the employer saying the selected me , but it does not show as awarded on http://guru.com. Should i not do anything for him until he has awarded it to me?

Don't do anything until you see the job as been awarded to you officially within Guru and shows up under awarded projects. Contact the employer and encourage them to award the project to you so you can set up the project agreement which they have to approve before you start on anything and also set up the Safepay so they can load it up with funds. Personally... I don't start on any project until both of those are confirmed.

I'm just curious why they called you to tell you that they are selecting you rather than just awarding the project through the system. Sounds to me like they are trying to avoid Guru and want to convince you to work outside of the Guru network which is a violation of the TOS.

Correct, Don't start the job until it's officially awarded to you through Guru's channels AND until either SafePay is funded or the first milestone is funded.

You should, message this employer, to let them know that you are ready to start work, but until they award you their project through Guru, and fund escrow you can't start.

On the chance that they also are new, you can give them directions/steps on how to award a project.

I wouldn't work off of Guru because that's a wonderful way to work, and not get paid for it.

Another option for you Paul is to ask the Employer for his billing code. You can then use the billing code to award the project to yourself using the "Make This My Project" option.
