closed quotes, notified project was closed?
|
I had short listed, yet kept getting late quotes, so I clicked on "close quotes" and now http://guru.com sends me an email that says I closed the project without awarding and to take a survey. what's up with that???

That's a pretty lame response. If this is true, and I can't believe it is, then it fools people into thinking that they have an opportunity, they then waste time and effort quoting on a project that already has been short-listed. A disservice to all. Really? How is it a disservice if the project is shortlisted, effectively closed, and no longer available for non-bidding freelancers to see. If they don't see it, they won't waste bids or their time. If you have shortlisted and were able to leave it open, THAT would be a disservice.

Hi George, Things are somewhat cut and dried when it comes to projects. They are either open and accepting bids, awarded but still hiring, awarded and closed for that reason, closed without hire, or expired. There is no option to leave a project "up" and available to be viewed but closed to bids. Unfortunately, when you close the bidding, you closed the project.

Hi, George. No worries. It's just a simple survey. We just want to know why you closed the project for quotes without awarding it. Are you still looking at the quotes, are you not getting a sufficient response, etc? It's just an attempt to better understand how our users are using our site and why. I apologize for the confusion. Also, to clarify Christine's point; when you close the project for quotes, you are simply communicating to Freelancers that you're no longer accepting quotes for the project. Freelancers that have not yet seen the project will not be able to see it once it is closed. Freelancers that have already submitted a quote will see that the project has been closed.

Once again an even more lame answer to justify an excuse for a poorly designed option...you did not respond to the fact that once short listed, why would anyone want continue to accept new quotes -- I need to get on with my project, not play with new quotes -- one wonders if you have ever completed a project -- in fact one wonders how can you could, if you continue to entertain new quotes -- just how do you define "short list" for an open ended quote project that never ends? As far as the "to Clarify Christine's point" you, also once again miss the obvious, a notification that a project is closed does not communicate that the project is still active. If I tell you something is closed, how do you rationalize that it is still open but closed. If i close a door, it is closed...not secretly opened to some. Get real. Accept that this needs to be clarified, not vaguely justified...if I don't get, do you naively believe that others are not left with the same misunderstanding? Wonder how many projects may have been abandoned for the same misunderstanding? Come down to the level of the common man...get off your high horse...is http://guru.com just for you nerds or folks that need something real for their 'simple projects'?

George, can you be more specific and less confusing as to what question or what advice you are seeking here? Your first posts suggests that you want to know why was the project closed when you just wanted to stop receiving more proposals. Then under that, it looks like you are answering your own question. Finally your last response, sounded like someone else speaking to you and saying , don't you understand, if something is closed it can't be open. In fact had I not looked at the name of the poster I would have sworn it was another member here responding to your original message.
