I was contacted by an employer after he found me on this site. I have completed several articles for him on promise of payment within 15 hours. He has yet to pay me and is not responding to my emails. His email address is [removed]. Any suggestions as to how to resolve this? Darren Monie

darren = Did this employer contact you through your personal email, or were you invited and notified of this through the Guru site and Guru's pesonal message board (and inbox) If it was through your own personal email thein this is totally a scam. Employers scrap your email information from Guru, then send you an email saying they found you through Guru. They don't want to use any of Guru's safeguards etc. They promise to pay you whatever you ask for. You do the work and then they disappear withoug paying you. Nothing anyone, even Guru can do because not only are you working off of the site, you aren't using Guru's Safepay escrow services. Basically, this employer got all his work done from you, for free. Lesson learned. Work only on this site, If the employer doesn't want to or refuses to fund SafePay, run, don't walk, away from this job. Never type a single letter until SafePay is funded.

Hi Darren, I have removed the employers email address from your message, as this is something (putting personal contact data in messages) that is not regarded as a good thing. With regard to the employer, I think you may have been scammed. I'm sorry to be the one to say it, but they connected with you on Guru, and took the project work off-site. There is nothing that Guru can do to assist you with receiving payment for your work, because their Safepay service wasn't utilized and they have no access to the funds you should have received. You may yet hear from the employer, so don't give up. But if you don't, please be more careful in the future and work within the framework of Guru next time. Some prefer Invoicing, which is good for those employers you have history with and trust, but many of us use Safepay which not only safeguards the funds but also means we have a team of people behind us if things go wrong. Take Care, :)

Hi Darren - It appears you may not have a lot of options as this guy, "David Greene" is located in China according to his WhoIs domain registration. Check out his "Who Is" registration for more information. Looks like the only option that you have is to continue to email him, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I have been contacted by "employers" who have found me on Guru and want to go outside the system. Frankly, it's just not worth the potential hassle, as you have unfortunately discovered.
