I have a problem with transferring funds.

Hello. I just transferred funds into my checking account. After I successfully did this, I was transferred to a screen which showed all my recent transactions. There, I saw that apparently I already did this, but into a different account. This other account, I believe, is closed. I want to make sure I'm not overdrafting myself, and that I won't be penalized.

Hi Chris,

Was the screen you saw a Guru screen or something else (like Paypal)? Guru immediately places your funds into a holding pattern when you move them, so that your balance will automatically be reduced or at zero (if you transferred all the funds you had available). You couldn't transfer the same funds a second time because there would be no access to them.

I would imagine that if you accidentally moved funds to a closed account, they will bounce back. The timing of that is a mystery, however. I think your bank should be your first point of contact, as they should be able to tell you how long the funds will take to return.

If I have misunderstood the question, please clarify so that someone comes forward with the info you need.

:)

Hello Chris,

Good morning. Chris R. is correct. In the event that you mistakenly transfer funds to a closed account, the transferred sum will be rejected by the bank involved, and the funds will be returned to http://Guru.com. Sometimes this return process can take a few business days.

When this occurs, we will credit the money back to your cash account and you will receive an email alerting you to the situation. Upon review of your account, it appears that this return has already occurred and it appears that you have taken steps to re-transfer the funds to the correct account.

In the future, if you suspect that funds were transferred in error and are being returned to http://Guru.com please contact us directly and we will be happy to research the matter. Thanks!

Christine explained it well. I had the same problem some time ago. I had closed an account and rather than removing it from Guru I left it there and then accidentally sent funds to it. It took a full week for the money to come back to Guru so I could withdraw it again.
