Can I cancel a project that work has been started on but I am not happy with it?

I awarded a project based on good feedback etc. I have paid the safepay payment and they have started work. They aren't listening properly to what I tell them to do and I do not like the designs they are giving me but when I ask for another option they don't give it to me. Is there a way I can cancel this and get my money back? I would appreciate help asap. Many thanks.

Hi Amanda, You have the right to cancel the contact with your freelancer if things are not going well, and you will need to inform them of this in writing, being very clear about the reason(s). You will also need to request that they refund the Safepay that is currently in place. You should be specific with this also, providing a period of time for them to do so (24 hours, 36 hours, whatever works for you). I hope that your communications have been via Guru PM, as this will provide the details required if an investigation is needed. If the freelancer refuses or ignores the request for the length of the refund deadline, you should then contact help desk for assistance. :)

Hello Christine, Thank you for your answer. Not all our communications have been via Guru but some have been via personal email. Will this be a problem? I have sent them a message via Guru outlining my concerns and informed them I was thinking of canceling the project unless they proved themselves. I suppose if they don't I will have to do as you suggest. Hopefully it will all turn out all right in the end. Many thanks for your help!
