You can file a dispute with Guru in case this employer has a history of doing that, but if there's no money in escrow there's nothing they can do. Always make sure escrow is fully funded before begining any job.

I'm with Kathleen on this one. 100% SafePay request payment required before I start on anything.

The only time I use an invoice is if I've worked with the client multiple times and they pay on time. I've had a few who slacked off in making payment via invoice and we went right back to SafePay.

It's the only way to protect yourself and also clients should do the same because there are freelancers that do not do the work.

Contact the employer, demand payment within 48 hours and tell them if no payment is made you'll be left with no other option then to file a complaint against them with Guru. Make sure you report them so they don't do the same to others.

Thanks Maarit Durity, I like your advice. I will go for last warning to pay the payments. If not pay then i,ll go for complaint against them with Guru. I have other way if i will sell the 3d Ship model in guru or other 3d model selling site then i can get 3/4 times more money then the project cost. And i can sell it 100 times.

Thanks. Tamal.

Sadly nothing is done to help you retrieve the remaining pay if the full balance is not deposited before the project starts. I found out the hard way as well. Insist on the total project cost being deposited and released according to milestones achieved.

Thank you Tamiko for your answer. Yes, You are right. There is nothing to do if the client does not pay willingly.

If you completed the work and submitted it AND the client didn't pay the SafePay request, then you did the work for free. There's nothing you or Guru can do to have this client pay at this point.

I will not even type a single letter unless the full requested SafePay amount is paid (if it's a small job) or SafePay request are paid for each milestone as they come up.

If possible, in case of not having the full SafePay amount paid, I always prefer two things for safe contracting, the first is an upfront payment, even if as low as 5% but it previously gets the client prepared to make the full payment as the work is done, then again if possible, I would send a snippet or a sample and ask for the full payment before making the full delivery or otherwise, milestone payments are always a good choice.

I hope this helps.
