Trouble renewing membership

I am trying to renew my membership, which expires today. I tried yesterday and the site was down and tried again later at night and ran into these problems: 1. Sometimes I can navigate to the point of clicking on a payment option -- ie Paypal -- but when I click to continue, I get routed back to my accounts page. 2. Sometimes I don't get that far -- I click on upgrade/renew and I get booted to the sign-in page. I have tried on multiple computers (three) and, in response to suggestion by a staff member, I tried clearing browser history. The problem persists. I have contacted the help desk for direct assistance but am trying this forum again for two reasons: 1. I am concerned that my membership will expire before I get an answer and 2. Is there another way to pay -- by phone perhaps -- as a temporary solution. Thank you,
