Guru Office Closed on Memorial Day

Due to the federal observance of Memorial Day in the U.S. on Monday, May 28, the Guru.com office will be closed. We will reopen on Tuesday, May 29 at 9:00 a.m. (EST).

All U.S. banks will also be closed. Direct deposit, PayPal, Prepaid MasterCard, and wire transfers payments scheduled for processing will be rescheduled for Tuesday, May 29. Please do not make payments from your bank account to third parties until you confirm that you have received your payment.

To those celebrating, please be safe and enjoy the holiday weekend!

Want to verify hours worked on hourly projects? Starting July 8, use Guru’s new Time Tracking tool to help you stay on top of billable hours. Time Tracking helps Freelancers automatically record time spent on projects and tasks as well as helps Employers visually confirm work activities and progress. The tool captures screenshots randomly within ten minute intervals so all work progress is visually confirmed, preventing any payment questions.

Choosing quotes just got easier

Wouldn’t it be great if you could rate the quotes you receive from Freelancers? Starting March 25, you can! Identifying the keepers just got easier.

Quotes for Employees
In your new Work Room under your Quotes tab, you’ll find a new feature called “My Quote Rating.” We are leaving it up to you to assign a rating to your quotes, on a scale of 1 to 5. Rate the quotes that stand out above the rest a 5 so you can filter through your favorites. We are even introducing notes. This will let you write your own personal note about each quote.

Ready to further refine your quotes to find the best? Sort your quotes by the ratings you’ve assigned. Review the quotes and simply click the “Award Project” button to hire a Freelancer, and we’ll automatically add that person to your new Work Room Team page.

Starting March 25, save yourself time during quote selection. When you rate your quotes, you’ll quickly filter through your favorites!

Shape Up Your Project Communication with Discussions

Starting March 25, you can use the new Work Room Discussions page to whip your project communications into shape. Gone are the days of discussing one topic at a time.

Once project work is underway, use the new Discussions page to easily organize different project topics into message threads. Simply start a new discussion topic. Any replies to that topic will appear as “threads” beneath that topic. Start as many new discussion topics as you like to organize your project communications! You’ll have a documented track record of all the discussions and files exchanged organized all in one place.

Employer and Freelancer discussions

Have files you need to include with your Discussions? Just attach any files to your Discussions. We’ll automatically store the attachments on your Work Room Files page too.

Starting March 25, begin tidying your project communications using the new Discussions page.

Now Get 1 GB of File Storage Space Per Project

Sharing files. Lots of files!

Starting March 25, Guru is exploding your storage space to 1 GB of files per project (up from the 100 MB per project we allow today). Use Guru’s Work Room file space to post and share your work files up to 100 MB each.

Employer and Freelancer files
  • Use Guru’s file sharing to share up to 1 GB of files per project, 100 MB per file.
  • Keep your files neat and tidy. Create folders to organize your files.
  • Hmmm… Which file version is the most recent? Upload files and Guru will track versions for you. To keep things simple, only the latest version will be viewable.
  • Do you like to attach project files to your Discussions? Guru will automatically upload files you attach to Work Room Discussions to the Work Room Files page.
  • All files uploaded to the new Work Room will be shared.

Have projects with files uploaded to our current file sharing system? Guru will give you a separate link to find these files once the new Work Room Files is in place. (Current files will not be transferred into the new Work Room.)

On March 25, use Guru’s Work Room Files page to upload and share up to 1 GB of files per project.
