Highlights:Working in a Mass media organisation has given me ample opportunities to come out with ideas for imparting information, education, and entertainment to the masses. An electronic media has got some inherent advantages/ strengths over other mass media organisation in terms of reach / accessibility. AIR provided me the opportunity to understand the intricacies of mass communication. For quality broadcasts AIR has always tried to keep pace with the day's advancements in the broadcasting arena. This provided me the opportunity to become familiar with the modern broadcast equipment and gadgets, the all-important tools for an effective communication. As far as arranging the Hardware / Technical support for audio - visual operations are concerned, the Engineering Degree (Electronics & Telecommunications) has given me enough to understand all these requirements.
During the most part of my service carrier (of 15 years) I have been associated with the Outside Broadcast part of AIR, which involves News Gathering (for subsequent broadcasts); Live relays of important functions and events; liaison with different Government/ Semi-Govt./ Private organisations for arranging the facilities required for Recordings/ Relays and for establishing communication network. News Gathering from far flung areas requires Satellite News Gathering equipment. At such OB spots we need to take the help of INMARSET Sat-Phones. The Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication has further strengthened my confidence in understanding the intricacies involved in mass communication and media technologies.
I had also served in the Executive Council (Managing Committee) of Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) India - Delhi Chapter. I edited of the Newsletter of Delhi centre of IETE. Being a computer buff, I am quite friendly with the Computer System and related environment, with working knowledge of some programming languages (BASIC, COBOL and C), Internet, Web designing and networking. I am also well aware about analyzing reports and studies, making slide presentations etc., with the help of presentation tools on computer. I do have some first hand experience of Editing and Dubbing with the help of Computers as well.
Besides this I have been associated with Employees Welfare Activities. I had been editing the monthly Newsletter of the Engineering Employees of All India Radio and Doordarshan (Radio and Television Networks of India).
Being a computer buff, I am quite friendly with the Computer System and related environment, MS-Word, MS-Excel, PowerPoint, Internet etc. with working knowledge some programming languages (BASIC, COBOL and C). I have been contributing articles for Computer/ Communication magazines and newspapers on related topics. I do have some first hand experience of Editing and Dubbing with the help of Computers as well.
