| Work terms: | Initially I like to talk with the client until I feel I have a good idea of what they are looking for and then proceed with a sample pencil sketch sent electronically. If both parties like the work a contract is drawn up. I prefer to work electronically but if traditional watercolor illustration is preferred final art will be mailed. If the job looks like it will go on for more than a month I like to set up one of two types of payment schedules. Either 1/3 up front, 1/3 at approval of all sketches and the final 1/3 upon receipt or !/2 upon approval of sketches and the remaining half upon completion, it all depends on the complexity and length of the project. Availability depends heavily on what projects I am currently working on. I usually work on a per hour rate. Once I do a sketch I can judge how long it will take to go to final and present a quote at that time. On some jobs I also work on a per piece basis. |
