| Additional skills: | Interpreting (Spanish-English / English-Spanish, Italian-English / English-Italian, Portuguese-English / English-Portuguse) I have worked for over 20 years doing face-to-face interpreting on a professional and personal level, from assisting foreign students in Brazil and in the U.S. with trips to the hospital, liaising with teachers from foreign language departments in the U.S, or assisting tourists from Italy in Brazil. I have little-to-no accent in my English, and my Portuguese, Spanish and Italian are very well understandable within the many different dialects and accents - I can be understood by Argentine or Cuban natives, or Angola and Cape Verde natives. Tutoring I currently tutor private students in Portuguese, Spanish and Italian and have taught both foreigners living in Brazil, and English to young Brazilian students as well as adults. | Highlights: | My name is Amanda and I currently live and work in the New York metropolitan area. I am a native Brazilian whose father emigrated from Italy and mother emigrated from Chile into Brazil. Thus, I grew up speaking Spanish and Italian at home, while spending 3 months a year in Chile and Italy since the time I was born. While growing up in Brazil, I studied at Eugenio Montale, a special school from the Italian government only for sons and daughters of Italians residing in Brazil. All the classes (besides Portuguese) were in Italian, taught by teachers sent from Italy by the Italian government. I majored in Liberal Arts The New School in New York City. My Liberal Arts concentration was focused in critical writing in English. In addition, I did independent studies in Spanish and Italian, plus I studied Arabic for 7 semesters and have a basic knowledge of the language. I have a CILS certification, which is an official certification of the Italian government that asserts that I can speak, write and read in Italian at a high academic level. I have been interpreting from any of those three languages into English for over 20 years and I have strong knowledge of legal and bureaucratic in such languages. I provide not only on site interpretation services but also interpreting either over the phone or Skype. I am also available for business travel |
