Line Editing. An extremely detailed line-by-line examination of your manuscript for clarity, logic, and flow. Line editing generally does not include conceptual editing or rewriting.

Copyediting. The work an editor does to improve the formatting, style, and accuracy of a manuscript. Copyediting is done prior to the work of proofreaders, who handle documents before final publication.

Proofreading. Includes a line examination of your manuscript to correct typing, spelling, numbering or lettering, word use - there, their, they're, letter or sentence spacing errors, fonts or size inconsistencies.

Proofreading is not a review of manuscript content organization, sentence structure, clarity, word choice, or style.

Developmental Editing and Writing. The most detailed edit recommended for authors with manuscripts requiring moderate to extensive help with punctuation, grammar, viewpoint, tense, dialogue, narrative voice, sentence structure, and readability. A highly recommended service for authors writing English as their second language.

Substantive Editing. The editor considers a document's concept and intended use, content, organization, design, and style to make the document functional for its readers, as well as correct and consistent. Decisions require judgment and therefore are negotiable with the writer. Substantive editing may involve restructuring or rewriting part or all of a document.
