Usually depictions of Obama as a Kenyan born, Socialistic, Muslim foreigner who is ruining our Country. I will draw whatever ideology you have in mind. Clients go to Guru for a bargain since the open market rate of illustration is higher on the outside. Potential Guru clients think that they probably won't be able to afford me. Not true. My motto is I'm reasonable in price and personality. Just call me and we can negotiate keeping in mind your budgetary constraints. I don't put an initial numerical cost on bids until I find out from the potential client, the details of the job. I do as good a job if I'm making $10 or $50 an hour. I think of myself as a graphic entertainer. Let me entertain you for a moderate price.

I did for the Alabama Chamber of Commerce for their festival with over 400 arts and crafts Vendors . And of course all the shrimp you can stomach as well as great music. Try getting this quality of work from those India art studio sweatshops that are bidding on your job RIGHT NOW with ridiculously low bids. Try communicating nuances about your needs with the Third World. Kind of similar to calling phone tech help with thickly accented customer service. C'mon people, call me, I am reasonable in price and personality. Oh wait I said that in an earlier posting. BEARS REPEATING!!!! Yes I did the type on this poster as well.

If you like what you see in my portfolio, why don't you give me a call. I never understood guru employers that look primarily for the lowest bid . Isn't it about the quality of the art?. I try to work within your budget if at all possible. Do you really want to work with India art studio sweatshops because they have rock bottom fees. Try contacting them if your project is not going well. I have been told this repeatedly by Guru clients who finally came to me. The title of this artwork is "The Sun also Rises.". This art was done for Delta airlines flight magazine for an article on insomnia. You get it? The moon is on duty and the Sun can't sleep after his shift is over.

I quite enjoyed doing this job with a Guru client. He thought that Kerry looked just like Gomer Pyle which never occurred to me before. He wanted me to somehow show the 2 in a situation. I thought of the Movie- Beast with 2 heads. A white racist and a Black man joined together at the hip. A campy horror film. Well done job. Wouldn't you say so, viewer? Don't you think this cover exquisitely represents the contents of the book by not giving away the monster's identity right away? just teasing the viewer on what is to come. Just like a good horror movie where the monster makes his appearance at the crucial moment of suspense. The Tail and the kid's footprints are just alluded to . I did this for a GURU client on speculation(Which I never do.) The client did not acknowlege my proposed drawing and was never heard from. NOT EVEN TO SAY HE LIKED OR DISLIKED THE ART. I deduce that the worm just used what I sent him and erased the copyright that was on the art for protection. There is moral twilight in the art market. UPDATE: the worm did contact me after taunting him that he acknowledge my proposal. He said it was "well drawn" but not what he had in mind. The whale idea was what he had on his job description. I admire Michael Moore's quest for justice.

Dog Day Afternoon
An electrical engineer, I'd say, In his early 30's approached me to do an image of all his Yuppie buddies who bike on weekends. Bikes that go for 3 grand a piece and up. Doing their personalities as DOG types. It is pretty evident by the breeds, who excels and who lags behind. Incidentally, the Basset hound in back is the guy who hired me and is the least competitive. Not only did he pay me a generous sum of money to do this as a friendly gesture to commemorate their rides together, He dropped considerable money on framing 8 prints of this art to present to them .I feel it is his way of capturing their youth in a bottle before all these guys create families and are strapped with mortgages. And will have no FREE WEEKENDS to hang with their buddies. Just henpecked by their wives and go into middle age singing "glory days" over a single malt scotch late at night while their wives are reading pulp romance novels in bed before retiring for the evening.. You did not realize how existential this painting is for this client who is crying out about his mortality. Did you now, Guru employers?. Stop here not only for good art but therapy sessions.

Here is a guy that hates his day job. He chose the safe path of a secure fall back position while enrolling in guru.com where he applies for illustration jobs that he wished he could do a full time career in. He is a marginally talented amateur cartoonist. He is known as a weekend artist who have part or full time jobs trying to justify being a freelance artist by getting hired on guru.com for the occasional $150 cartoon. He has a mortgage, wife who works, and the proverbial child. This guy is struggling in a downsized economy.
I HAVE been a full time illustrator for 20 years and have to compete with THESE PEOPLE who make ridiculously low bids to clients that don't know quality work but know a good bargain like getting cheap plumbing repair. .

YES, this was an actual job!!!!! A conservative magazine called Midwestern Living magazine, NO LESS!! An actual article about designer outhouses being judged in the midwest.. They went for my beauty contest idea. I thought they might find it sexist in objectifying women, but behold, they thought it was a great idea. Putting women's legs on a urinal seems distasteful to me. but I had to come up with an idea, ladies!!! It was a good concept in that I could actually depict the names of these outhouses in my art which were quite clever. And you too can have my fertile imagination at your disposal as well as my humor, sweat, and tears. Not to mention a free teeshirt with purchase of $200 of art.

Gallows humor FOLKS! I don't want to keep you hanging, so I will explain this art. This was a comissioned work by the Iranian refugees that also hired me on that Hitler piece you saw earlier. They let me do anything that mocks the Iranian regime. COOL JOBS, don't you think? I put those Iranian officials in current art with themes from roadrunner cartoons.You do have permission to use this art for your refrigerator magnet. Or have the kids take this art to their school's (show & tell) class on how America has one of several solutions pertaining to foreign affairs.
