Highlights
|
I am a recent college graduate. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. While there I mainly took literature courses under professors that I felt would help me hone writing and editing skills that I could put to use after graduation. I also took multiple creative writing workshops that involved daily editing of student manuscripts, which really helped me develop an eye for detail. All the work paid off. In my last semester in school I earned the David Hallman Award for Excellence in the Study of Southern Literature, won a Madison Writing Award in textual analysis, and published an analytic essay on the Joel and Ethan Coen's Barton Fink.
Write to be read! I feel that it is extremely important when writing to remember that others will read your work. Of course all writers should keep their intended audiences in mind when developing content, but thinking of the reader is also an important aspect of editing and proofreading. Despite the quality of writing or the strength of an argument, poor editing will turn a reader away immediately.

Seeing as I am a recent college graduate, I am currently seeking projects to enhance my writing and editing portfolios. I realize that I do not have the professional experience of many other writers editors; however, that does not mean that I am not equally capable of quality work.
Taking this into account, though, I am willing to work for what i feel is minimal cost while remaining within reason. For editing projects, I generally ask for around $1 per page, whereas I have noticed the typical asking prices are around $2-$2.50. As for per-hour assignments, I generally ask for around $8-$10/hr depending on the specifics of the project. These rates are for light editing. Rates will be lower for proofreading and potentially higher for heavy editing or rewriting.
Writing rates varying depending on both length and depth of the particular project. These rates will be determined individually for each project.
