Work Terms

Communication prior to contract is critical to ensure expectations are
met or exceeded. My approach is to afford clients the opportunity to
select the minimum level of involvement (hours) they desire from me per
week, in advance, with the flexibility to increase hourly participation
as opportunities are uncovered and collaboration warrants.
On
assignments of one month or less, I require 50% upfront, at contract
signing, with the balance due upon completion (plus any pre-approved
expenses as documented by receipts). On assignments of greater than
one-month, I prefer to anticipate a realistic monthly rate, and require
payment of the first month in advance, with subsequent payments at the
beginning of each month. All additional hours (pre-approved, beyond the
agreed upon weekly/monthly minimum) plus related expenses (if any) are
due at the end of each monthly pay period.
While I typically
charge $180 per hour, I have reduced my hourly rate to $150 per hour
for Guru leads only. As my skills overlap in so many areas (research,
strategic analysis, business planning, copy writing, professional
photography, art direction, graphic design, legal research, competitive
threat analysis, social media strategy, e-marketing planning, etc.) and
in many cases, may be put to use simultaneously throughout the life of
a given assignment, I recommend that you budget for at least 14 hours
of my time for preliminary research - then review budgets and needs
based on the strategies I recommend.
