Highlights
|
|
· Paid my way through Electrical Engineering program doing mechanical fixture design and solid modelling for tape drive company.
· Started and operated my own automation company for 4 years. Company maximum size was 4 engineers and 2 additional support staff.
· Designed and implemented PID servo controller in C. Loop was used to control two actuators simultaneously so that they could be moved in unison. I successfully demonstrated that the servo loop could reliably be closed around the host Pentium Processor running Windows. The control system maintained synchronization of 0.25° between the actuators. I also modified Motor drive hardware to handle high load and high back-EMF conditions.
· Wrote Windows application to communicate with a HPE1740A TIA via a GPIB interface. The software enabled large amounts of data to be collected for extended tests and output collected data into a `Matlab’ format file via an intuitive GUI for the operator.
· Designed a 4,000-Watt power distribution system to power a `multiple’ of Servo Track Writers. Design covered sizing AC and DC service and appropriate filtration. Working with vendors to approve redundant sources for the power supplies. Debugged hot swap problems and redesigned PCBs as necessary.
· Worked as liaison between the CAD department and requesting engineers in an oversight role on the majority of changes being done to STW PCBs.
· Completed/Polished the design of existing preliminary electronics used to drive gear motors for holding HDA in place.
· Designed logic to decode gear motor encoder signals into a digital counter to be read from the ISA bus. Used Altera’s Max+Plus II Software to integrate my logic into existing design.
