I am very versatile and a fast learner. I am a very fast typist who basically types, thinks and writes at the same time. I am good at perceiving the big picture of project and breaking the project into various parts and building from the ground up.
I am extensive interviewing skills, solid basic photography knowledge and a strong knack for recognizing what is needed and completing a project, but I am not afraid to ask questions when something is not clear.
I have written and edited articles for research magazines, worked on a mid-sized newspaper city desk and sports desk, have organized and produced major special sections and have written (and recorded) radio advertising and newspaper ads. I have interviewed a president's wife, several U.S. senators and representatives, two foreign prime ministers, Nobel and Crafoord Prize winners, governors, high-profile scientists, professional athletes and business leaders. And I've been comfortable in every setting.
I have earned several in-house newspaper editing and writing awards, and I've had the pleasure of advancing the skills of reporters who have gone to great success and the unhappy task of advising the not-so-good that journalism is not their cup of tea -- and not been hated for doing so.
I can edit interviews recorded digitally into solid sound bites, and am good at getting my subjects to give me the simple summarizing sound bite.
I love editing as much as writing. |
