My goal is to be a professional writer in both journalism and creative writing. I wish to work for a newspaper such as the New York Times or the Washington Post covering news that matters.
I started my own blog (www.mattwrites.net) to showcase the skills that I learned in college in a practical setting. Aside from my opinion pieces which lean towards journalism, I also post short works of fiction.
I am working on my first novel. Working title is "The Shattered Spirit." It is a Sci-Fi novel set in a future where much of the world has been conquered by aliens. Some regions have retained their independence and continue to resist in the name of human freedom. However, even within the human nations, not all is what it seems...
