Writing
I’ve loved writing since I could hold a pen and accomplish it in a diversity of styles, from highly formal, annual report-ish verbiage to imaginative arts coverage to beyond-technical physics writing to slick travel prose à la Outside Magazine. I write well under pressure, meticulously file clean copy, and have rarely missed a deadline. My clients have included Outside and Mothering Magazines.
I am coauthor of a book concerning hotel architecture in the late 19th century.
Editing
My 25-year editing career has encompassed books, newspaper, magazine copy, and science writing. I have been engaged by travel, cultural, museum, spirituality, and local-interest book publishers, including John Muir Publications, Museum of NM Press, and Red Crane Books.
Tech Writing
For ~7 years, I worked in-house for a company that specialized in photo and laser technology. I wrote, edited, designed, and formatted scientific articles, conference papers, project reports, and manuals. I try to make every effort to simplify language, condense, and clarify such documents, to ease comprehension and usage.
Public Relations
I began my career as an asst. account exec for one of NJ’s top PR/advertising agencies, where I learned to write PR copy for clients such as DuPont and North American Phillips, created press kits, and rendered syndicated pieces. I've written and edited feature articles, pitch letters, brochures, newsletters, direct mail, releases, PSAs, etc.
