- MS SQL 2000, 2005, 2008 Upgrades and implementations, Design, (minimum work on this topic). Sometimes there would be a need to modify a DTS package to create an old report or a new report that the user requested. Implement, (Assist with Upgrades from SQL versions to newer versions of SQL). Managed, (with one other DBA over 400 databases on about 38 servers with about 100 databases over a Terabite in size). Some of the databases had their .mdf’s and .ldf’s on SAN drives. The SAN drive was managed by a network person, but our duties as the DBA was to monitor the free disk space and make recommendations if needed. Backups were perform either with RedGate or with SQL Jobs. We would backup the databases across the network to one backup server daily, nightly or weekly and then once a week those backups would be zipped and then backed up by the network guy using … Net Backup to another location. Managed SQL Jobs daily … which included (Optimizations, Integrity Checking, Re-Indexing – Weekly), (Full Backups – Daily, Weekly), (Tlog Backups – Hourly, Daily) and Diff Backups. Monitored Free Disk space was on-going. Set user privileges at the database level. NOTE: If jobs failed then I performed research and resolution on them. - Oracle 9i and 10g …Upgrades and installs running on Unix and Linux operating system working with users and vendors to resolve issues that may arise from daily activity.
