Highlights

A multi-tiered human resources campaign launched and supported over a three-year period with multiple components, including a calendar, direct mail program, newsletter, and promotional items. I created and maintained consistent communications systems across all pieces - including color, typography, and iconography. I approached the project from a long-term perspective and was able to create templates to allow for expansion in response to client feedback, while ensuring that standards were maintained. An employee publication for a very large national company, which was to inform as well as incentivize. The "magazine" format was to include company news, employee stories, sales "training" modules, contests, puzzles, etc. The piece began as a monthly, and was accelerated to a bi-monthly to ensure more timely information. Again, the creation and management of templates played a big role: I was able to provide tools to the direct contact that allowed her more time to generate and/or gather more useful and relevant information to deliver to the employees. A biography for one client entailed cover design and layout of approximately 200 pages, including almost 100 captioned photos. It was a heavily indexed and cross-referenced book, and also included a highly detailed genealogy chart. The challenge was to present the density of information in an engaging and attractive manner. I worked to develop a visual hierarchy to "train" the reader and used a two-column format to provide an airier feeling. For the past 3 years I worked with a company who is involved with safety and health stats. I created a template in QuarkXpress and developed a style for bar, line and pie charts. I also developed icons that represented each section and subsection. Together the client and I developed a timetable chart for easy status of each page and section for the production of the book's process. The client and I have developed a wonderful work relationship.
