Highlights

For the last 10 years I have been involved in all aspects of desktop usage, securities and support in LAN/WAN environments. I have continually used and supported Dell, Gateway, Toshiba and Compaq servers, PC’s and laptops with various operating systems and applications, including DOS, and all Windows platforms. These duties were performed in varying industries such as aerospace, pharmaceutical, shipping and telecommunications. I have managed over 5000 assets (encompassing PCs, monitors, printers and other peripherals, servers, routers and switches) for a large scale IT/IS department. My leadership was integral in the rollout of desktops, laptops and software to an entire LAN using both desk to desk and remote software distribution (i.e., SMS, PCAnywhere and Tivoli). I have been involved in the installation of both Cisco Routers and Switches for a large call center (1500 seats).
I have continued to learn and adapt to the changing world of IT by expanding my knowledge into content filtration, spam prevention, anti-virus and data security. I was directly involved in the upgrade of many MS Server 2003 servers without loss of data or the integrity of network operations. I managed over 400 users in an Exchange environment, created and deleted user account via Active Directory, monitored server storage space as well as maintained the tape backups using Computer Associates Arc Serve backup software. I implemented software solutions which refused over 2 million spam messages per month. I designed and preformed a re-cabling effort within the data center which organized the patch panels and Cisco switches to identify network problems easily and quickly. I have managed an Active Directory environment and applied local and group policies through AD and gpedit. I created a “Kiosk image” for contract employees to use for web based time clock login. I have supported network and desktop issues for our remote users via phone and remote desktop management solutions. I have setup and configured VPN connections and monitored firewall software. My direction for the need of SLA’s from each business unit was pivotal in the engineering of the Exchange 2003 design.
I have extensive knowledge in hardware and software compatibility resolutions, including SCSI controllers, RAM, drivers, multimedia devices and printers. While distributing Windows NT to a new department I determined that several of their applications would not run on the Windows NT platform and there was no upgrade from that software vendor at that time. I researched the software and its function and found other applications that were cost effective to continue the rollout. This allowed the customer to perform their duties. Also there were many desktop PCs that were not compatible with the rollout of many operating systems and needed to be upgraded prior to the installation of a new OS (i.e., Windows 2000 requirements include 128 MB RAM). It was necessary to install another 64 MB RAM to rollout OS to entire LAN.
I have continually communicated with management as well as clients, the status and requirements in all projects in which I have been involved or managed. In the absence of face to face discussions, I communicated via email or telephone to address and resolve any issues. Also I wrote technical documentation to distribute to new hires on methods and procedures for the installation of hardware and many different software applications on an extensive network environment. These documents were also placed into a Web format for other remote locations to access if needed.
Thank you,
Jeff Conners
