A client -- remarking on a program I architected, engineered and implemented over the course of the then previous year and a half -- revealed to me that it identified "between seven and nine million dollars" of previously unrealized revenue in the first fiscal year of data out of three that it processed. If the remaining data only yielded as much as the first, I figured that my actual value to that client was roughly 200 times my salary. Had my client not hired me -- had he seen my cost as an expense instead of an investment -- the possibility exists that he might not have realized those millions of dollars of revenue.
I began my programming career with training received while working at Microsoft by former Fox Software employees. I had been working as a Windows Support Engineer at Microsoft when they purchased Fox Software. After supporting several successive versions of Foxpro from 2.0 to 2.6, I even contributed to the creation of the Visual Foxpro Help files before the public release of VFP 3.
It is simply not POSSIBLE to have longer experience with Visual Foxpro!
Not just experienced with Foxpro, I have worked with languages from Assembler to SQL, C to HTML, Java to ASP. I taught a six-week class in C to my former Microsoft coworkers. I have knowledge of the network hardware and underlying systems usually lost to those with "software-only" experience. In a Y2K contract, I devised a program to scan source code for date fields instead of reading page after page of code myself. The result was increased efficiency, perhaps saving the client weeks.
