Designed and developed robust dBase app for a firm that performded hospital bill audits. Included all audit management functions, internal and customer reporting, sophisticated data entry screens for massive entry tasks, prescreening functions designed to assist in the evaluation of hospital bills for audit candidacy, custom worksheets for auditor use containing pertinent data organized in meaningful ways, follow up reports to clients (profitability, client billing, automated letter generation, etc.
Performed complex conversion projects (one of my favorite things):
- 2.3 Million hospital patient/account records and 1 Million transciption reports converted from VMS-Basic application to Tandem-based application
- Thousands of complex Clinical Engineering app records (dbase) converted to more modern application (different vendor, MS Access platform)
- Converted a years worth of future calendar events from IBM AS/400 DeskMaster application to Novell GroupWise compatible messages so they posted in GroupWise resource calendars.
- Converted Unix-based pharmacy data and label management app to a Windows, Alpha4-based application.
Implemented an Oracle-based cost accounting system in a hospital, functioned as the DBA for a number of years, performed the migration of that application from Oracle v5 to v6. Hundreds of custom SQL-Plus reports over a period of years (VMS operating system)
