Process:
Generally my clients will explain / document functionality they are looking for. I will review, ask necessary questions and further document the deliverable. I will then create a project plan that will include an estimate as to the number of hours and the date I can deliver the solution. Paritial deliverables are regularly released in an effort to show progress and get feedback.
Payment Methods:
I usually bill on an hourly basis (based on an estimate I produce). I will consistently advise on the progress and let you know where things stand.
Fixed bids are becoming more difficult in the industry as reliance on third parties and components increases. On occasion, I will bid a project on fixed cost if the deliverables can be defined clearly enough at the beginning of the project.
Communication:
This can be the difference between success and failure in a project. I am available via phone, email, instant messaging and usually reply back even during off hours.
