Work Terms
|
Having had a history of working specialized contracts, and also hiring contract clients, I prefer all details and contracts to be finalized in writing. Email is preferred for both convenience and also for clarity of issues.
However I am more than happy to discuss updates, status, changes, issues and pre-contract terms over whichever medium the client prefers - phone, email, IM, onsite meetings (If within the region).
From the technical design perspective it helps drastically if the client has an end goal in mind. I have helped form the final design from concepts many times if that is required. The end goal is to match the finished project with the client's needs and requirements.
I believe there should be a consistent exchange of information, continual updates and notes on the progress, to ensure that the project is proceeding in a mutually agreed upon fashion.
Depending on the scale of the project, I prefer to work on a milestone arrangement for payments. For small scale projects this isn't applicable.
