Hi, I'm John Wells, founder of GreatWorx.

Over the 10 years I've been in the industry, I've served in a variety of roles... from administrator to developer to analyst to CIO. It's definitely been a long, strange trip, but I've seen it all and have enjoyed every minute of it.

Perhaps the most important skill I've acquired during this time is the ability to make a project succeed, no matter what it takes. I've developed and managed all sorts of projects, from the the smallest web application to large, nationwide deployments. I've led development and operations for a $300M company by day for the past 5 years, all the while running a successful consultancy and participating in hardcore software development projects. And across this entire landscape...across 10 years worth of projects...I've never, ever, had one fail to meet its requirements nor the customer's satisfaction.

In short, I know what it takes to drive a project, while at the same time having the deep technical skills necessary to do the actual work. I'm a developer at heart and code daily, but I'm also an adept manager and people finder, and I've built a capable network of some of the best and brightest in the industry to work at GreatWorx with me.

I assure you that our name is more than a coincidence...it's a vision statement for a company that truly leaves it all on the table. Good work is not enough...what you need and deserve for your money is GREAT work, and that's just what GreatWorx will deliver!

Work Terms

GreatWorx offers two engagement types:

1. Time and materials - This is by far the more flexible option. You simply pay as you go...we'll agree to an hourly rate before we get started, and GreatWorx will provide you detailed weekly reports. Choose this option if you have your requirements loosely defined, or if you like to capture them as you go. We prefer this type of engagement and find the flexibilty and openness encourages project success.

2. FIxed price - GreatWorx also offers the option of a fixed price bid. Obviously, it's hard to estimate how much it will take to build a house without blueprints, so we require a detailed set of requirements up front to consider this option. Alternatively, we can work with you hourly to help you generate a requirements document, and then switch to a fixed price bid after the document is complete.
