SUMMARY: Self-motivated, quality-focused individual with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Six years in software, database development and systems analysis provide excellent technical skills, strong analytical abilities, and broad business
intellect.
COVER LETTER:
As can be seen from my resume, I have been designing, developing and maintaining Internet/Web applications in all phases on various projects for the last six years. I received my Master’s Degree in Computer Information Systems from the Colorado State University Graduate School of Business in the spring of 1999. Since graduating the program in the top 5% of my class, I have sharpened my skills with organizations such as Lockheed Martin, Apollo Group / The College for Financial Planning (CFP), and the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA).
While at Lockheed, I was relied upon as the primary knowledge base and skill set in the areas of Microsoft Web programming and server administration. In addition to Web applications development, I assisted in the training and mentoring of others. My stay as a consultant at the College for Financial Planning, involved developing an integrated eBusiness and back-office solution. In addition to software programming, and database design, I was responsible for interfacing with the customer on business and systems analysis, requirements gathering, process reengineering, and unit and system testing. I organized and managed development tasks, timelines, and project deliverables for college employees, the development staff, and myself. After being hired and moved to Director of Software Development, I architected and spearheaded the development of all new Web systems as well as modifications to existing systems. This included providing Tier-3 support to internal and external customers. I was also given the role of technical sales consultant under an emerging “Corporate Systems” business model. With this additional duty came the responsibility of interfacing with corporate clients during all phases of the contract and the sale. This new business direction involved the development of Web systems for seamless integration of enrollments and reporting between the CFP and clients such as Charles Schwab and Merrill Lynch. Many of these same skills were applied to IMCA as I managed the technical design and development of an equally important eCommerce solution. As the lead programmer, I was responsible for systems analysis, design and development, as well as server and database administration.
On top of technical duties, I have been organizing, leading and managing the daily efforts of development staff and my direct reports in accordance with project timelines and development requirements. All of these positions required network, system and application troubleshooting, working with business users, documentation in all phases and on all levels, and technical assistance and problem resolution to team members, staff and customers.
In addition to proven technical expertise, I have outstanding leadership, communication, management and organization abilities. I thrive in a team environment where complex technical challenges and group successes are the norm. If provided the opportunity, I know I have the talent, skill, experience, and drive to become an integral member of your team. I am available for a personal interview. I thank you for your time and your consideration in this position, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Jamey J Smith
