Brought in as the 7th person of the first 10 start-up team to implement all aspects of site from the angel funding stage. The start-up grew to a 200-person company located in Austin and Chicago. At time of lay-off was the 3rd oldest remaining member of the company ( 1st and 2cnd oldest employees are the company founders ). Used the following technologies: ASP, JSP, Java, COM, SQL Server, Oracle, HTML, XML, Visual Basic, Visual C++, Visual J++, Sun JDK, JDBC, ODBC, Crystal Reports, Site Server, MTS, DTS, MS Search, Power Designer, Homesite.
Intellagents Control Corporation (May 1997 – July 1998)
Used the following technologies to write the next generation production generation of the companies product, an enterprise sales force automation package: Visual C++, Visual Basic, Microsoft SQL Server, DB2 for NT, COM, OLE2, C++, OO A/D, OLE DB, Unicode/MBCS, threads, design patterns, automation issues, ATL, ODBC, DB-lib, exception handling engine for multi-processes, object to relation mapping business objects (Rose98 DA), integration of SQL Server, C++, and VB.
Maxim Group client: Cybertek (March – April 1997)
Insurance application using the following technologies: Visual C++, Visual Basic, Access, MFC, Fusion OO methodology, ODBC & DAO classes
DMR / Trecom Business Systems client: AT&T (Dec. 1996 – Feb. 1997)
Brought in as C++, OO A/D, client server mentor to help implement AT&T’s future billing system called Consumer Franchise Collections which will bundle direct TV, local and long distance telephone service, voice messaging and Internet service into one bill. Successfully ported a small legacy system running on MVS to a client server system on Windows NT and Sun UNIX.
Analyst International Corporation (AIC) (Jan. 1995-Dec 1996)
Salaried Consultant. Primarily worked onsite for AIC clients (listed below) but helped with project requirements between contracts. Received 14% raises for the all salary reviews.
AIC client: Excel Communications (March 96 - Dec. 96)
Project involving transaction reconciliation between Excel Communications and other Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) agencies and Long Distance Carriers. Real-time system to recognize, classify, extract, and match Transaction Code Status Indicator (TCSI) transactions. Functional model uses C / embedded SQL interface and a C / C++ interface. Redesigned system to an object architecture following the FUSION method. Integration points involved the following technologies: Visual Basic , Microsoft Access, HP-UNIX C / C++, Sybase
Dresser Valves ( June-Aug. 96, concurrent with Excel contract but on weekends )
Project to convert engineering application written in DOS C/ FORTRAN to a Windows based application using Visual C++ / MFC. Prototypes were done in VB.
AIC client: EDS, International Headquarters, Satellite Uplink (June 95 - Feb. 96)
Hired for new development and maintenance of existing applications for digital video file servers (Digital Guest Choice) which use satellite transmission technology update field servers daily. This technology (VOD: Video On Demand, currently available in Hyatt hotels, a.k.a. pay-per-view) is the future basis for interactive and digital TV. Relevant parts included communications between a VOD (Micropolis) computer, Spectradyne (SCO UNIX) control and billing server, and satellite acquisition SFVS (Store and Forward Video Server) computer. The following technologies were used : DOS, Borland C, MFC, SCO Unix, Linux, Access, Oracle
AIC client: EDS, Spectravision hardware site (June 95)
Brought in as extra resource to configure and build on-demand digital video servers and the corresponding billing servers based off of the SCO UNIX platform.
AIC client: MCI (May 95-June 95)
Part of 3-member team to upgrade and configure legacy equipment with client-server technology. Work involved:
-trouble shooting hardware and software issues
-configuring custom e-mail package using internal PBX system.
-installed and configured Lotus Notes database.
-installed application using Microsoft Access database using ODBC and TCP/IP connectivity
-installed and configured mainframe connectivity software.
AIC client: Taylor Publishing ( Jan. 95 - April 95 )
Worked on new features of publishing application distributed to Taylor Publishing customers to design yearbooks, which represents Taylor’s main source revenue. The use of the yearbook software has given Taylor Publishing the edge in their market since Taylor is the first to use this publishing technology at the high school level. This project used C/C++. Worked with two source trees, Macintosh and DOS, due to differences on low level file system calls differences between PC and Macintosh architectures.
Bell Northern Research / Nortel / Northern Telecom (Jan. 94-Dec. 94)
Design material tracking /ordering database used for telephony equipment over the full software cycle.
Application used by following departments: Engineering, Provisioning, and Integrity Lab. Projected cash volume of inventory handled by application in 1995: 26 million. Work involved integration of data between PC based database and client-server UNIX SQL based database (InterBase). Work recognized by department. Received cash bonuses for work on project.
University of Florida Faculty Support Center, Consultant (Sept. 93 - Dec. 93)
-Answered technical questions both on phone and in lab. -Trained new-hires
-Teacher assistant for faculty classes. -Monitored networks and print queues
-Troubleshot hardware and software
