Service A continually running service which keeps all required settings and datasets persistant in memory. Due to the nature of the exchange event sink architecture it is not desirable to “reload” this information each time the event is triggered. The Gui The shown front end where all aspects of the filter can be configure, from logging to the RBL servers to be used for spam checking. Monitor Opening a telnet session to the service would cause a stream of status information to be streamed to the telnet client allowing administrators to see what was going on in real time. Event Sink The event sink was a COM Interop registered with the Exchange Server which was triggered on receipt of new email, the event sink would relay the email to the service for processing. The utility reads its configuration file and attempts to bind to an exisiting configured Dial-Up connection. If it cannot it will create one and then bind to it. All the user must do is enter their username and password and click connect. A "more" option is available which streams debug information which can be used by support technicians to ascertain where issues may reside where uses are having connectio issues. A bold status graphic changes as per the current state of the connection.
