Gig Salad is a member directory service I started development on during late 2005. I drew up the specification into an action plan after a couple weeks of meetings with the owners. The technology aspect of the plan consisted of using the Java platform with Struts, Ice Faces (JSF /w AJAX), Tag Libraries, CSS, JSPs, Hibernate, Apache DS, and a MySQL database.
On the functional side, the directory was to display a relevant series of user profiles based upon the set of search criteria the user submitted – such as, talent category, location radius, and keyword hits.
