Data mapping/mining
476671_default_file_269.txt
Description:
The problem: Programming reports in Cobol was not "pretty" and programmer's time was better used for core application issues.
Transoft's U/SQL product was used to run on IBM RS/6000 UNIX machines to allow ODBC access to the Cobol ISAM files. The server was installed and maintained on the UNIX server. The 50+ Cobol files where analyzed to create data dictionaries the Transoft's U/SQL server would present to any ODBC enabled application.
Reports were then written in Visual Basic, using Crystal Reports, to read the Cobol files.
