December 2003 Software Engineer
As a software engineer I have performed many tasks including code-optimization discovery and implementation, database query optimization, re-factoring, new feature implementation, application deployment, software integration, and documentation. A formal list of my responsibilities both past and present follow:
· Code bank application modules in accordance with design specifications.
· Proof-of-Concept applications integrating Struts framework into proprietary MVC architecture.
· Write JUnit test cases as required.
· Work with QA to resolve testing issues as they arise.
· Ensure J2EE compliance with regard to application deployment and development.
· Lead programmer and designer (J2SE, J2EE, XML, XSL).
· Responsible for code review.
· Mentor.
· Develop Java Server Pages and Servlets for banking application.
· Develop and apply Custom Tag Library technology to server-side development.
· Implement Javascript as necessary for client side validation.
· Develop EJBs that serve as proxies to business logic.
· Develop and maintain a java applet to serve as the GUI front-end for Bank Administration software.
· Developed an XML/XSL based menu system that generates the navigation component tailored to the user’s allowed system actions.
· Analyze existing modules for integration into major revision of application.
· Use tools such as OptimizeIt, Jprobe, and SilkPerformer to profile application.
· Apply code optimization strategies to improve performance parameters including application execution and download optimization over various bandwidths. One example would include the re-factoring of the application EJBs to reduce object creation.
· Optimize Oracle and standard SQL queries for speed and simplicity of execution.
· Document performance improvement strategies.
· Document newly developed modules such as the navigation system.
· Complete analysis of the enterprise application within J2EE specifications to facilitate modular deployment. This involved applying J2EE standards to properly structure and package the application. The analysis yielded the need to repackage existing code and define a standardized package structure. This allows the ability to release the code incrementally, minimize the introduction of bugs, and define libraries. All modules are deployed as mutually exclusive Web Applications instead of one large Enterprise Application.
· Use tools such as OptimizeIt, JProbe, and SilkPerformer to profile application.
· Install and configure WebSphere 4.0 AE/AES, including datasource, virtual host, environment, and JVM configuration.
· On-call for production release issue resolution.
