I am proud of my skills as a writer and editor and will always produce the highest quality output for an employer.

I worked for 24 years as a faculty member at Kansas State University, Drexel University, and the University of Florida where I helped graduate and medical students produce grant proposals and dissertations, helping each student with the editing and organization of his work. I currently hold the position of Editor-in-Chief for a peer-reviewed journal on Medical Imaging and edit approximately 120 articles / year for authors from around the world. I hold a PhD in Computer and Information Science.

I have recently completed editing a manual on installing a radiology department in an underdeveloped country and am currently ghostwriting a technical book on inclusions of metal in fused glass, a topic of interest to me. Although the author is an excellent artist, he is not a writer.I am incorporating the instructions for techniques with photographs illustrating both the techniques and final products. My proficiency with photoshop is crutial to this project.

I believe in communication with my employers so we both understand what the end product will be as well as the commitment to time constraints of the job. I work quickly and efficiently to produce the best possible outcome using the least amount of time. I am happy to communicate with an employer by phone or internet and in special cases will travel to the employer's location with reasonable travel expenses.

Software Skills:	I am proficient in all Windows / MS office software as well as PhotoShop. I am also familiar with and able to work with html, Dreamweaver and Illustrator. I have advanced versions of Adobe Acrobat and can convert most documents into pdf formats. I am very organized and will keep all files sent to me for editing in a secure, private location with nightly backups to cloud storage. I am skilled at creating web content and with search engine optimzation. I use Media Wiki for wiki design. My PhD is in Computer Science and I have been part of the Medical Imaging community for more than 40 years. I listed 25 years as experience with writing and editing as the time since earning my PhD when I started working extensively with students, physicians, and new researchers. My computer and information science sub-specialty is in database design.
Additional Skills:	As the Editor-in-Chief of a peer reviewed journal on Medical Imaging, I am skilled in working with images to optimize their appearance. Since many manuscripts are sent to me from foreign countries where English is not the first language, I am skilled in converting poorly written work into grammatically correct and understandable English for publication. Since I am very careful about my work output, my work is always top quality. I am an expert in creating project proposals, requests for proposals, and scientific reports. I have extensive experience in researching topics and as a retired facutly member, have access to the libraries of the University of Florida through their VPN. If I am very familiar with the subject, I will also do ghost writing for a person who does not feel comfortable with writing and am currently ghost writing a book on metal inclusions in fused glass. I use photoshop to optimize photos for inclusion in books, brochures and reports.

I am happy to work with employers using phone, email or Skype. I will communicate with employers as they require but suggest that communication on at least twice a week is usually appropriate.

I work during the week, usually during normal working hours in the Eastern US timezone, but can talk with employers at other times if necessary. I prefer doing intense work in the early morning and less taxing work in the afternoons.
