INCS
Description:
Overview
INCS is a Charlotte based IT company who provides network and
computer services to small and medium sized companies that to not have
their own IT staff. INCS came to Gastonia.com to overhaul it's existing
website, which had not changed since going live in the mid 1990s.
Scope of Work INCS's goals were very straight forward - Update the look and "feel"
of the site; add a bit of visual interactivity; make their contact
information more apparent as well as provide easy to find links to their
3rd party technical support solutions
Solution
Gastonia.com redesigned the look of the site. Also, the navigation
structure was redesigned, and all of the content was rewritten with
search engine optimization in mind. We added a bit of javascript to the
main page to create the rollover and image swap effect. Drupal is the
content management system that runs the site, and pages can now be added
or edited as needed.

Watson Insurance
Description:
A New Face
In celebration and recognition of their 75th anniversary in 2009,
Watson Insurance decided to give their web presence a much needed
updating. They commissioned Ari Miller to dress them up and flesh them
out.
The Process
Although the content on the existing site was valid, the architecture
needed improvement as well as a GUI face-lift. "We worked very closely
with Watson to help them organize their wealth of information into a
form and function that was more intuitive and efficient," says Ari. As
the vast majority of their content would not require regular updating, a
more straight-forward HTML foundation made sense. "We integrated their
third-party insurance services provider to allow for a more seamless and
branded experience."
The Results
"Wow, I am really pleased with your product! Thank you for your
work." said Craig Watson - Vice-President, Watson Insurance. The final
site not only reflects Watson's quality and professionalism, it also
allows clients easier access to information resulting in reduced
repetitive phone traffic and a more satisfying overall experience.

Lincoln County Historical Asso
Description:
A Coming Together
An active and vibrant organization for many years, as of 2005 the
Lincoln County Historical Association had no web presence and was in
search of a boost to membership and involvement. Headed by a young and
forward thinking director, Jason Harpe, the LCHA set out to develop a
partnership on the long term project of brand building and introducing
the Association to a new and expanding generation, both locally and
globally.
"I was so excited to find such a talented firm that is both local and
so capable. They brought the complete package to the table - solid and
practical consulting to narrow down the goals, planning and scheduling
to get us there and a final product that absolutely and continuously
exceeds our expectations." says Harpe.
Web 1.0
Over the following years, membership and community involvement
sky-rocketed. This was accomplished through the work of Jason Harpe and
his army of dedicated volunteers combined with the support of solid
media - mailings, posters, brochures, etc. All developed by Miller. And
of course the web site continued to evolve and expand. Large, on-going
community projects became more and more prevalent as fund-raising
improved.

Philpott Ball & Werner
Description:
Keep It Simple A Charlotte/Boston based investment firm, Philpott Ball & Werner was looking for a simple, clean and effective web site that showcased their expertise, allowed for regular updates of new transactions and offered a password protected area to provide their client base with documents of value. That's just what they got.
The Best Tool For The Job Suiting your clients individual needs means using all the quality tools at your disposal. With PB&W's relatively simple needs, Wordpress actually proved very capable and aided in keeping the project in budget. Time was spent more on the custom look and feel while allowing a proven technology to act as a vibrant framework. All the elements of functionality and design were covered while still leaving a few bucks in the till.

The Town of Boone
Description:
Reflect the Beauty
The Town of Boone needed a web presence that both offered the
functionality and access to data and forms that their citizenry demanded
as well as reflected the simple beauty of their North Carolina mountain
town. We knew just what to do...
Not Just A Pretty Face It was not enough for TOB to offer just a pretty site. Functionality
and return on investment were paramount, as it should be. We worked very
closely with each department to determine what would help them to be
more efficient as well as more effective.
Universally, we found two very distinct areas where the site could
more than carry its own weight - phone traffic and printing costs.
By offering a very strong tree of information and providing an online
presence available for immediate updating for civic news - school
closings, etc. the town has seen a tremendous
reduction in general information phone traffic.
The plethora of forms and documents that any municipality must
provide is daunting. Each of these files must be available in printed
form and if there is an update, thousands of pages are suddenly invalid. Instead,
we converted those forms to printable PDFs available directly from the
web site. Mass printing is now no longer necessary. Even if a citizen
comes to Town Hall and requests the paper, city personnel can simply
print it off the site themselves. The reduction in printing and
distribution costs is quite significant.
