Highlights
|
In 2001 I graduated from the Pittsburgh Art Institute with a degree in
graphic design. I was immediately hired by a marketing firm in Twinsburg
Ohio, where I designed national advertisements for industrial products
and processes. That was where I learned that I needed more room for
creativity.
In 2002 I abandoned the print world, taught myself HTML, and landed a job
as the senior web developer and copy writer for a decorative basket
manufacturer. Here I learned that any job could stifle creativity.
In 2003 I left basket manufacturing to seek adventure. Instead, I took
an entry level position with a company that provided real estate agents
with websites. This was where I learned that opportunities for
creativity are where you make them.
Within two years I was head of design, project coordinator, and search
engine optimizer for a company with more than a 100,000 clients. I wore a
lot of hats, learned a lot about business, and decided I had all the
skills I needed to work for myself. All I had to do was quit my job.
In July of 2008,complications with my pregnancy forced me from my office
for several months. The down side was temporary loss of employment,
worry over the health of my unborn daughter, and killer back pain from
months in bed. The upside was a healthy baby girl, an introduction to
some killer new yoga techniques for back pain, and the beginning of my
freelance career.
In 2010 I discovered Elance.
This is where you come in.

A great design is essential to the success of any online venture.
However, without well thought out structure and functionality a good
design will be just another pretty face. That's why I work the way I do.
First, I will ask you a series of questions to try to determine exactly
what you want and what you hope to achieve with your website. I may ask
you for logos, files and content and send you an initial outline of
your website's structure. Then my hard work begins. I will create one or
several "wireframe" designs of your homepage and any other important
pages. These consist of gray boxes for photos and black and white text
placement. This helps us focus on the structure of your site to make
sure it is communicating the right message. You may request changes and I
will make them as many times as needed to get you exactly what you
want.
Next, the fun part. I will apply color, typefaces. texture and style to
develop the look and feel of your site. Again, you may request as many
revisions as needed to make it just right.
