In Optoelectronics Manufacturing:
I have extensive experience in production planning. I coordinated customer purchase orders for production, ordered and maintained parts inventory and buffer strategies, and worked with the factory to execute the plan. Allocation of scarce resources and trouble-shooting manufacturing issues were problems I addressed on a daily basis.
In the Restaurant/Bar Industry:
I compiled and analyzed data to identify areas of the business that required cost reduction, including liquor, food, labor, and hours of operation.
Some examples:
1. I identified that costs were too high on alcohol, and took measures to reduce theft, taking my cost to revenue % from nearly 75% down to 35% within two months.
2. I identified that costs were too high on food. I analyzed the cost of each menu item and discontinued menu items that had low profit margins except in case of "loss leaders" that generated revenue in other areas (such as alcohol), and changed the menu offerings to reduce the over number of inventoried items, in order to reduce spoilage and waste.
3. Based on scrutinization of hourly revenue generation, labor costs, and variable expenses, I changed the hours this particular business opened from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to eliminate those time periods where the business was losing money.
4. Based on study of clientele demographics, spending habits and entertainment preferences, I changed the theme of the restaurant to attract more of the revenue-generating consumers. This change tripled my net profits.
In the Construction Business:
I worked with a master carpenter to help create excel templates to enable him to quickly cost out his jobs and create customer invoices.
