What are milestones and tasks?

Use milestones and tasks to improve project communication and collaboration with Employers. Simply state what work will be done and by when.

  • Create milestones to define the broad steps needed to complete the project.
  • Create detailed tasks within each milestone to define the small stepping stones needed to complete each milestone.
  • Attach due dates to each milestone and task.
  • Mark each milestone and task as “complete” as you finish them.

How do I create a milestone?

You will be able to create milestones only if the Employer has designated you as the Project Manager.

To create a milestone,

  1. On the top navigation bar, click “Projects.”
  2. Click the project’s title.
  3. Click the Milestones tab.
  4. Click the “Add Milestone” button on the right.

How do I create a task?

There are no restrictions as to who can create tasks.

To create a task,

  1. On the top navigation bar, click “Projects.”
  2. Click the project’s title.
  3. Click the Tasks tab.
  4. Click the “Add Task” button on the right.

How do I add comments to a milestone or task?

Want to discuss or keep notes about a specific milestone or task? Post comments for each milestone and task to keep the details straight. Guru will keep the communications organized for you and email your comments to the Employer.

To add a comment to a milestone or task,

  1. On the top navigation bar, click “Projects.”
  2. Click the project’s title.
  3. Click the Milestones or Tasks tab.
  4. Click the Milestone or Task title.
  5. Click the “Add Comment” link.

What does it mean to be the Project Manager?

You or the Employer can take the reins of the project. By default, Guru assigns the role of project manager to you, putting you in charge of creating milestones. If the Employer prefers, she can make herself the project manager at any time.

To change the project manager assignment, the Employer will,

  1. Sign in to his or her account.
  2. On the top navigation bar, click “My Projects.”
  3. Click the project’s title.
  4. Click the Team tab.
  5. Under “ASSIGN PROJECT MANAGER,” click the “change” link.
