I have a Master's degree in Sociology from the University of Victoria, British Columbia. During the course of earning this degree I had to do a great deal of writing, and have also had to write a lot of reports in my professional career as a researcher.In grad school I wrote on the challenges posed to the enforcement of copyright law in the age of the internet (so the piracy of music, movies, software, etc. through Napster and its descendants). This subject required not only standard academic writing but also technical writing that communicated complex concepts to an audience that often had little background in these subjects.
