I've worked with consultants, mom & pops, and corporations. The biggest problem I've encountered with all sizes of brands is a lack of imagination. It's important for your brand to communicate a vision of the future and not just react to the market.

Reactionary brands copy trends and “try too hard” to connect with hype culture. Instead of asking “why is this product selling out?” or “why is this content going viral?”, these brands play it safe by mimicking the storytellers and companies that succeed. Such tactics are ineffective.

For those brands who want to be leaders during this time, it’s important to expand beyond “selling” products. Evolve into the realm of storytelling.

We need to know where people are headed. More importantly, where do they want to go? How can our products, services, and experiences help take them there?
