Work Terms
I am flexible with work terms, adapting my processes to suit the project at hand, rather than the other way around. Generally I find it preferable for both parties to agree on a fixed fee for a project, but I am also happy to work on an hourly or per-word basis. Clarity of expectations for both parties, up front, is often the key to a successful working relationship. I generally ask for a start-up fee. For large projects, this would typically be in the 20 percent range. For small projects, usually 30 to 50 percent. Milestone payments are then scheduled in a way that makes sense for the particular project. Again, I try to be as flexible as possible. I understand I am providing a service. My intention is always to try to make the process easy and comfortable for my employers, as I believe people hire contractors to make their lives easier, not more complicated. My main expectation from employers is to provide timely feedback and payments.
