Writer, Illustrator & Teacher

My work originates from my love of story. Whether I am writing or creating visuals, my first concern is always the story, the presentation of the dream, the invitation to wonder. My visuals range from soft, funny children's illustration to more complex fine art renderings; likewise, my writing includes work for young readers and mature audiences. My poems, short fiction, and essays have appeared in journals such as Brevity, Terrain.org, River City and Cite. My illustration clients include Cite and Highlights for Children.

I hold a MFA and PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Houston.
I live in Greenville, SC, where I work as a freelance writer and artist and teach English and Creative Writing at Furman University.
