I do a free short demo on the clients project based on the supplied files ... if the client approves of this free demo then they can proceed with a payment plan.
I use Milestone work plans for all projects
1) the first milestone is a SET UP FEE of $25 which is downloading the clients work materials into organised project folders - organising your project - non refundable
2) Milestone 2 : 4 hour minimum charge to compile any project into its final product that the client can upload to Amazon.
The minimum project ... for example : client wrote a single poem / sonnet of 14 lines (50 words) and would like an eBook produced.
What can happen is an edit / enhancement is requested which extends the original project so Milestone 3 would be created for example :
Milestone 3 : Minimum 4 hours ... for example ... client wants audio / speech enhancements creating an audiobook of this poem
Milestone 4 : Minimum 4 hours ... for example ... client decides to add another poem
Lets now say the client decides to stop the project : clients book is compiled based on the final milestone that was PAYED which is Milestone 4.
In the above example the book will have 2 poems and one audio example ... at this point the client might decide to add Milestone 5 (to produce audio for the second poem) ... and then close the project
Final delivery to client would be THREE FORMATS as client can submit BOTH to Amazon under DIFFERENT EDITIONS (one interactive and the other not) and PDF the version for PAPERBACK on CreateSpace
