An experienced and qualified Business Continuity, Risk Management and Resilience Specialist
A qualified Risk Manager with +13years experience in Risk Management and Business Continuity Management, mostly gained in the financial services sector. I started my career at Marsh with the risk consulting team and was trained into BCM following the 9/11 terrorist attack that affected our Marsh offices in the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre; I later joined the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) where I coordinated the BCM programme for both head office and regional offices. In 2014, I joined KPMG as a Supervisor and BCM Subject Matter Expert in the Information Protection and Business Resilience (IPBR) unit until April 2016. I have been Freelancing since May 2016 to date. I have a strong risk management foundation because I worked in the risk department most of my career; this also provided great Enterprise Risk Management exposure over the years, which enabled me to perform in risk management training, auditing and advisory roles as a freelancer.
I am passionate about the profession of Risk Management and of course, BCM which is a crucial subset of Risk Management and I have grown vastly in these roles over the years. As a subcontractor with various auditing and consulting firms, I have audited, developed and project managed both Risk Management and BCM engagements. I am competent across all the areas of the BCM lifecycle. I also have a strong understanding of risk related control frameworks such as ISO 31000, COSO, ITIL, COBIT, ISO 22301, ISO IRBC 27031, King IV, POPIA and the BCI GPG.
I am always looking to expand my BCM and organizational resilience expertise and recently joined the British Standard Institute (BSI) as a freelance trainer for BCM ISO 22301. I also thoroughly enjoy researching risk and resilience topics and sharing industry practice knowledge at various platforms. As a conference speaker, I have delivered on various risk and resilience topics since 2016.
