About

I'm an experienced, hands-on social media consultant with superior marketing, writing and editing skills -- a one-stop shop for all you need to successfully promote and grow your business.

How many times have you heard within your organization, “We have to do social media” or “We have to be on LinkedIn AND Google+ AND Twitter AND Facebook AND YouTube AND Pinterest AND Instagram” with little to no articulation of why or how the organization should approach each of these channels?

I feel your pain. But more importantly, I can do something about it.

I bring 15+ years of experience as a social media manager, community manager, web marketing specialist, and online writer and editor. What does this mean for you? It means that in me, you’ll have someone skilled at understanding how to balance the needs of an organization's stakeholders, the organization as a whole, and the target audience. It means you’ll have someone who can chart a course for accomplishing your business objectives through social media, and who has the skills, experience, and desire needed to implement the plan and manage it as it evolves to ensure success.

The social tools and channels for reaching audiences will continue to evolve, but the need to effectively manage customer relationships remains a constant. What sets me apart is understanding how to treat people like people in digital spaces, while also having a deep understanding of and ability to adapt to the ongoing evolution of the web.

Past and Present: After writing and editing sports, news and entertainment for CBS, FOXSports, NESN, and AltaVista, I shifted to managing online communities at AOL. Since then, my career has centered around utilizing social media to achieve goals such as marketing products and services, increasing sales, and developing engaged and loyal customer communities. After years of full-time work in the corporate world for Thomson Reuters, EMC, and NameMedia, with occasional freelance work on the side, I decided in 2012 to leave office life for the flexibility and variety of freelance and PT contract work. This has allowed me to put all of my skills to good use with a wide range of projects.

Work Terms

The flexibility and variety of doing freelance projects (and, if the right fit, part-time contract work) keeps my creativity and energy constantly flowing, improving the quality of work delivered to my clients.

My projects range from high-level social marketing or content strategy development (short- or long-term), to writing and editing web content (blog posts or fully researched articles), to hands-on social media development and management. I'm also open to occasional projects that are more task-oriented such as data entry, contact list development, transcription, etc.

I can often provide a very quick turn-around.

I don't have set work hours. I work pretty much all hours, though I prefer Tuesday and Thursday nights after 4:30pm ET to be limited when at all possible.

I'm open to communicating according to my client's preferences. In my opinion, phone, Skype, or email are best for initial conversations. E-mail is ideal for most communication as a project progresses, as it allows for record-keeping, and I always respond to e-mails promptly. I'm also open to instant messaging if a client prefers.
