Experienced writer, editor, and paralegal
I recently returned to Guru after a few years' absence. I am driven and meticulous, and I refuse to allow anything that looks less than totally professional to leave my desk. I will be happy to work with you on your project to give it the professional character it deserves. My specialties are:
Writing/editing: I have substantial experience in developmental/copy editing and proofreading of academic papers, dissertations, theses, short stories, books, blogs, websites, and other materials, and am very comfortable with Chicago, APA, MLA, Harvard, Oxford, and Bluebook citation styles.I have also worked with undergraduate and graduate students as a writing consultant, dealing with brainstorming, discussion of ideas to formulate thesis and topic statements as well organization of essays and papers, review and analysis of drafts, and recommendations for final editing and polishing. I have written academic papers (including my graduate thesis), short stories, novels, novellas, poetry, and songs.
Legal: I have worked for 30+ years as a legal professional, the last 20 as a litigation paralegal, with experience in records analysis, chronologies and damages analysis, discovery preparation and analysis, motion and correspondence drafting, deposition indexes and summaries, and legal database maintenance. I also have superior transcription, writing and editing skills.
Translation: I am fluent in German, and have translated a variety of types of documents, including legal, technical, web pages, IT-related, educational, and other miscellaneous documents, from German to English.
Work Terms
My hours are flexible. My rates generally run between $25 and $50 per hour, depending on the type of project. If you are interested in my proposal, but would like to negotiate the rate, I am always happy to discus it with you!
Generally, I prefer to communicate through Guru, although if it turns out that email, Skype or phone will work better, we can arrange it.
