I have been a professional web developer since 2000. I started out building sites in HTML and gradually added Javascript, to the mix.

Early on, I worked as a contractor at an eLearning company based in the UK where we developed complex intranet products for different companies, including Blue Chip clients. This required a high level of Javascript knowledge and Flash - which were both used extensively on different projects.

About 9 years ago, a client requested a site designed for their eCommerce store so I began to learn PHP and MySQL. This has now become the primary focus of most of my sites - custom-developed dynamic web sites.

I have added high-level programming paradigms to my list, including OOP and MVC. If suitable for a project, I will use one of the many frameworks out there. I have built quite a few products using CakePHP in the last 3 years so would consider myself an expert in this. Along the way I have also picked up jQuery too which I'll use with Ajax where necessary.

There are other 'soft' skills which are equally important on a project: time management, budgeting and communication with the client. These are all things that I pride myself on.

Work Terms

I am flexible regarding payment terms and these will be worked out on a per project basis. On a fixed-cost project, there would normally be an up-front payment with regular bi-weekly payments as agreed. I am also very happy working on an hourly basis.
